Dragon*Con was a blast. I'm working on a detailed review on YSLAR, but it's not quite done yet. Here's the video of the record breaking Thiller dance which I took part in. It was a hell of a time.

So we're about to head out for Atlanta. Should be an interesting Dragon*Con weekend. If you guys happen to get curious as to what may be happening in my world over the weekend, check out my Twitter. I plan on updating it pretty frequently in an effort to actually remember the majority of the con.

So I bought a black snail for my aquarium about a week or so ago. Long story short, the Betta ended up dead shortly thereafter. It is our theory than due to my naming the snail Stalin it killed the fish in the night in a Communist rage. So instead of replacing the fish I decided to buy a new snail, this time a gold one. His name is Goldust. I've been entertaining thoughts of purchasing a third one as well and building up a snail army, but Becca disapproves. She says that snails are "pointless." Now, they aren't very exciting to watch but they are entertaining when they are slithering across the glass and feeling around with their little antenna looking doohickies. What do you think?

| Left 4 Dead achievements |
[27 Aug 2009|05:05pm] |
So I have 44 out of 50 achievements on Left 4 Dead now. That's pretty darn close to completion if you ask me, more so than I've gotten for any other game in the past. I finally got the Boomer achievement that was driving me up the wall. Now I need to get my zombie kill rate up to 53,595. I have no idea what I'm at now, but I imagine one day it will eventually pop up on screen out of no where and surprise me. I also need to take out a total of 1000 zombies using a big mounted machine gun. I've been trying to use the gun more lately, but there's no telling when that achievement will finally get done. That's two that I really can't do much about other than waiting patiently.
I need to finish one level on Expert and then finish all four on Expert for two more achievements. Not an easy task. The only other two left require me to single handedly kill a tank and finish a campaign without any survivor taking damage from the "special infected" zombies, meaning the hunters and smokers and tanks. The tank one is difficult to get because no other teammates can shoot it with even a single bullet, 100% of the damage has to come with me. It's impossible to do offline because the computer players automatically shoot. And I can't do it in a random online game because, hey, nobody wants to stand around and let someone else do the work. And the special infected achievement? That just sounds near impossible.

| Spare time |

I've noticed that I have a lot of spare time lately, being that I don't have the full time job to eat my life. Don't get me wrong. I'm trying to get jobs elsewhere, but until that happens I'm left with not much else to do. Part of me likes it but then part of me starts to go insane after a while. I've gotten a few things accomplished that I probably would have never done if I were still working.
First off, I'm only eight achievements away from 100% on Left 4 Dead. I've been shooting tons of zombies lately but I'm still stuck without the 53,595 achievement. I'm closer to completion than I've ever been on any game before though. And by a lot of points. I haven't really paid much attention to the whole achievement system until I noticed that I started getting a lot on this game. Now I've been trying to grab those final few. The next Boomer that blows up on me and ruins my Stomach Upset achievement might make me throw the controller at the wall.
It's also possible for me to actually undertake the Dragon*Con project on You Sound Like A Robot. I'm ironically eight shy of completion on that as well. I've featured every attending band except for ArcAttack, Bella Morte, The Crüxshadows, Flynn's Folly, Marc Gunn, George Hrab, Pandora Celtica, and Weep. I'm familiar with Bella Morte and CXS of course but every other one of those bands are totally new to me. Not sure what those posts are going to be like. I've got until the end of the month. Then those last few days of wait before it's finally time! w00t!
I figured out the playlist function on MySpace. I realize no one uses MySpace anymore but I had just realized that I could never get a playlist on my profile. I've had one song at a time in the past. I saw playlists start popping up on profiles in place of the single song player but I never could figure it out. It didn't really bug me until recently. I would watch others do it on their profile and return to my account to change the players. The option simply was not available in my account. After poking and prodding I finally noticed that my account has somehow been associated to Australia. I set it to USA and instantly the playlist feature was available. Does this mean that MySpace is prejudiced against the Aussies? Perhaps Australians are not good at multitasking and would simply become confused.
School! After a while a new semester started. I take the classes online so I've been able to conquer the first week's assignments on time. So that's good.
I've been sleeping a lot too. If I'm sleeping I can't do anything bad so I suppose that's an accomplishment too.

The Misadventures of Flapjack |

So. As you may have heard I am no longer working at RadioShack. I've posted about on other sites and I think Bec posted it, but yeah. I am now among the unemployed due to a hypocritical, jerkface former manager. I was at RadioShack for nearly three years, almost since I moved here. It was an irritating job sometimes, but for the most part I kind of liked it. The worst part of going to work every day was, as I mentioned, the new boss. For a while now he has been wanting to filter me out of of his store in favor of a new staff which he could train and meld to his own liking. Well, I accidentally gave him an excuse when my alarm didn't go off one morning and I opened the store five minutes late. Five minutes. On the last day I worked I was running the store and we ended up number one in the district in sales. I had also just finished putting up a ton of signs for their lame new rebranding to "The Shack". But all of it seemed to be for naught as after Dickboss returned from his two days off he released me from my job. The guy he hired a week earlier was my replacement, so it was only a matter of time anyway. It's not a good feeling, as if I've been used and tossed aside because of one mistake. Not even a mistake of mine, we're all at the mercy of our electronics in this day and age.
Trish, a co-worker from the store also runs a paper route every morning. I've been talking to her and may be starting up a route pretty soon. I would be making about the same, maybe a little less after gas and such, but it would be a great job. After speaking with her boss and such it looks as if I won't be able to start until the 22nd. That's another week without my income. One reason why I'm really hopeful for the paper route is that I would still be able to attend Dragon*Con. Unfortunately my loss of a job came at a bad time. Pretty much any job that I start at now won't be willing to give me almost a full week off for the convention only two or three weeks after starting. With the paper route, I can have someone ride along with me to learn the route before we leave and have them run it for me while we're gone. I just wish I could start earlier.
Becca thinks I should go up to where I used to work when I first moved here, Big Lots, and apply for a job in the meantime. I'm not fond of the idea of working there again, even though it wasn't too bad, and I know they wouldn't give me off for Dragon*Con. And we would lose more money if we skipped the con than if we just waited.
Do you guys have any ideas for something to do during the day time to bring in some money until the paper route gets settled? The floor is open for discussion.

The Crüxshadows have a Twitter now, @thecruxshadows. That's cool.
I have a question though. Those of you who attended Dragon*Con last year, do you remember the live performance of Immortal they had playing at the table on constant rotation? I can't seem to find it anywhere online. Anybody have an idea? I'd like to post it on my site.
